This paper presents rehabilitation and reconstruction design of several structures of historical significance, which are under the protection of The Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments of the Republic of Serbia.
Repair of walls and towers of the Smederevo fortress is shown, and it includes repair and rehabilitation of towers 14, 15 and 16, as well as the walls between them, which were demolished during the 1941 ammunition explosion. Also, rehabilitation of tower 11, which is 20 m high and tilted by 1.8 m at the top, is shown. Repair of its foundations was performed using a special technology known as “jet grouting”. Afterwards, an overview of reconstruction of the medieval keep tower in Bac, which was built in 1329, is given. Reconstruction was largely related to the roof structure. Bridge over the Milesevka River, near the Mileseva monastery is a very interesting project, which was developed based on historical data on similar bridges and on a single footage of the former bridge. The paper also presents rehabilitation of the lighthouses at the mouth of Tamis into Danube, which were built in 1909 and are only twin lighthouses in Europe. Repair works were especially interesting because of an unusual contracting procedure. Due to water presence, while constructing lighthouse base ring, concrete was first installed and then reinforcement was incorporated into the fresh concrete.
All rehabilitation and reconstruction designs described in this paper were developed at Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade.
